The Alloy of Law by Brandon Sanderson

The Alloy of Law introduces a gunslinger turned gentleman by the name of Waxillium Ladrian, a likeable and very real character. His sidekick Wayne provides comic relief in the form of very genuine between-friends banter. Together the two former law men from the Roughs make a virtually unbeatable team.

The Alloy of Law is a western fantasy like I’ve never read before. Brandon Sanderson’s creation of the metallic arts is brilliant. As was true in the Mistborn series, Sanderson does a superb job of explaining how allomancy and feruchemy work without disrupting the flow of the story.

The novel was well paced, making it a fast and thoroughly entertaining read. The end was satisfying, but promised more adventures for Wax and Wayne (notice the nominal relationship :) ) Fans of Sanderson won’t be disappointed.
