Your Artistic Outlet
As you can see, I have changed the title for this Wednesday’s post. The reason for this is that it takes time for the seed of an idea to germinate and finally grow into the product you were hoping it would become. I think this has finally happened.
My reason for starting Hobby Hump Day was that I wanted to post about creative endeavors other than writing, and to include topics that those who were not necessarily writers might be interested in reading about. It is an admittedly cheesy title, but I thought it was catchy, and besides, I like alliterations. I’ve really enjoyed these posts, and I hope you have too, but now I want to expand on the idea. I want this to be a place for you, a place to tell others about your creative pursuits.
My mission is to feature a different individual (or a new activity, same person) each week and share his or her artistic outlet.

Your Artistic Outlet- Quilting
The beautiful quilts that are the subject of today’s post were hand-pieced and hand-stitched by my Mom! She has an eye for color and this innate sense of what will look great together is readily apparent in the complementary combinations of fabric that she uses to make each quilt. She does use a sewing machine to attach the front of the quilt to the backing, but all of the detailed stitches that fill a quilt with eye-catching texture is done by hand. Her stitches are so small and precise that they look like they’ve been machine-sewn, but I can assure you, I’ve watched her work for countless hours holding her hoop of stretched material under a light.
