In case you need to catch up, here’s a link to Part 1 and Part 2 of The Dilemma.
“Dr. Grayson can survive a few more days, and I need some time to heal. What’s the rush?” I asked as Agent Annabelle Green paced the length of her office.
“We need this information now. We don’t have weeks.” She replied.
“I don’t suppose I’m privy to the reason why.”
“No, you’re not.”
“Well then, there’s no way I’m going to let you and them track me to my best hiding place. Do you have any idea how hard it’s been to keep that location secret?”
“Karen, we need your cooperation with this. It’s urgent.”
“So is my future security Annabelle.”
Agent Green stopped long enough to glare at me through narrowed eyes.
“What will it take to get you to cooperate?”
A slow smile spread across my face as I propped my feet on the speckless surface of Annabelle’s desk.
“Now you’re speaking my language.” I replied. “I think an additional million on top of our previous arrangement might persuade me to rescue our good doctor.”
The muscles of Annabelle’s jaw bunched as she clenched her teeth in frustration.
“Ms. Kenton, this man is on the brink of the greatest discovery the world has ever known. You can’t put a price tag on knowledge.”
“We can try.”
Silence stretched and Annabelle refused to meet my eyes.
“I’ll see what I can do.” She forced the words through her teeth.
I smiled again as I stood.
“Well then, let’s get me cleaned up. Dr. Grayson is waiting.”
What do you think he’s on the brink of discovering?

Love the power dynamics in this part! :) I don’t know what the doc is about to discover, but I’d love to find out!
Thanks Sarah!
