The third book in The Leron series is now available! Empyrean’s Future concludes the story of Jahira and Krnar, at least at the main characters. I do, however, plan to continue to write in this world. Future installments in The Leron Series will feature new point of view characters and new adventures. Continue reading
Well, it’s been a little over three months since I published my first novel. Before releasing my book, I was so afraid of so many things. I was afraid of tackling the entire project by myself (the cover, the formatting, the editing, the marketing). I was afraid of making some huge mistake that I could never recover from. I was afraid there would be reviewers waiting to shred my book to pieces.
You know what I’ve encountered? Continue reading
Hi there! It’s been a while. I know I haven’t been blogging much and, there’s a reason for that. A few reasons actually, and I’ll use this post to try to explain. Bear with me, I have a nine-year-old so most of our conversations have to do with Star Wars, Minecraft, Lego sets, and the importance of personal hygiene. I also have a two-year-old and, while quite verbose for a two-year-old, I can’t say we’ve been having too many conversations about philosophy and the meaning of life.
So, those of you who know me well know that almost three years ago now… Continue reading
In general, people stick with the familiar. We like routines and predictability. A little excitement from time to time is a good thing, but too much change sends most of us running for the hills, right? What I’m wondering if the same is true in your reading or writing life? Are you a genre hopper? Continue reading
I have been tagged by Andi Cumbo in The Next Big Thing meme. You can read about Andi’s Work In Progress (WIP) on her blog andilit.com. The rules for this meme are:
1) Answer the ten questions below
2) Tag five more people to share about their WIP
1. What is the title of your WIP?
I actually have three “works in progress”. Two of them are completed manuscripts and one is in the very early stages of development (I’m on chapter eight of the rough draft) and is the one I refer to on my page or in writing groups as my WIP, but for the purpose of this blog I’ll discuss the two complete ones for now…clear as mud? Great. Here we go.
1. Empyrean (which I’ve shared the most about)
I tend to avoid blogging about the craft of writing. Why? First of all, I don’t consider myself qualified to give advice when I still have so much to learn. Second, there are approximately one million people already blogging about the craft of writing, and doing a far better job than I could ever hope to do. What’s my point? Well, today I’m breaking my rule. But since it’s more of a guideline than a rule, I don’t expect any serious repercussions. We shall see.
I have four total, two “polished” (they’ve been edited but will need more) manuscripts to my name now. I am no George R.R. Martin, but I have improved. Two of the most helpful tips that I can pass along are 1) when you edit, search for “was” 2) edit every first and last sentence of every chapter by itself. Continue reading
All my life I’ve enjoyed getting lost in the amazing places that books provide. I think that Science Fiction and Fantasy, more than any other genre, feeds the creative need in me. I love to imagine, I love to daydream. I have an intrinsic need to experience new adventures, learn new things, and to do something creative. Continue reading
