We would like to say thanks to all the people who came to celebrate with us this weekend in body and/or spirit. If you couldn’t make it, or don’t live anywhere near us and didn’t know about it, here’s the scoop.
The farm is moving. Not to a new website, oh if only it were that easy. The truth is that in a matter of weeks we’ll be pulling up our stakes and physically relocating to Michigan! We hope to take all of the animals (which currently includes four cows, thirty-five chickens, two dogs, and two cats) with us, but we don’t actually have a house with property to move to yet. Stressful? Just a little.
Therefore, this weekend we hosted our going away party down on the farm. We roasted a pig in a fire pit in the front yard for the main course (thank you Ben, Jeff, and Tristan for making this possible).
The evening ended with a bang, literally.
Yep, we had our very own fireworks show! Fortunately most of our neighbors were also at the party, so no one called to complain about the noise. Oddly, after one went rogue and exploded out the side, the number of party-goers rapidly decreased. Hmmm.
My son, my husband, and I had a fantastic time. Judging by the aftermath come Sunday morning, so did everyone else :)
But seriously, we have loved living here. It’s been a peaceful haven and a wonderful two and a half years. Now life is moving us elsewhere.
Check back in over the next couple of weeks because I’m pretty sure there are going to be some interesting stories developing out of The Farm Move #2.
*Thanks Meghan for the great pictures!
